Please note, there are some new features that affect live studies upon re-parse. These changes are indicated by 📣.
Introducing Custom Fields
Researchers frequently need to create custom variables for reporting and exports, but doing so has traditionally required programmer involvement. With Custom Fields, fields can be created for use in reports and exports through a visual builder without requiring a survey parse! This streamlines workflows by reducing reliance on programmers and allowing faster, more flexible data handling.
Fields created here are for use in data analysis; they may not be used or referenced in the survey logic. All fields will be viewable in any report, and included in exports.
Fielding Roles
Roles were adjusted to better accommodate internal field managers and clarify panel roles.
- Panel Coordinator role renamed to Panel Vendor+
- Panel Field Manager role renamed to Panel Vendor
- Fielder role has been removed, and with the update, all past Fielders are updated to Panel Vendor+ roles
- Field Manager role is introduced, intended for internal field managers

Reporting
New analysis tools available in Frequency
Easily add Nets or Metrics directly from a Frequency table. You can also now modify a field’s base by selecting answer options to include in the calculation for a particular question.
Update to reporting for Rank questions 📣
Our platform now automatically incorporates a closed end option for rank questions. For rank data stored by position (e.g., "Q7RANK1"), the platform now includes a closed end option, "Rank not provided.” For rank data stored by item (e.g., "Q7R1"), the platform now includes a closed end option, "Item not provided.” With the new closed end options, the base of each ranking question (by position or by item) is now the total number of respondents who responded to the ranking question.

SPL
Additional system classes have been introduced, allowing for fast reference to often used question configurations. Additionally, classes will now better output in IB and Survey word doc exports.
📣Note that the add_to_100_percent class has been updated to remove if not set: 0. This may affect live studies if they are parsed without updating the system class.
Read more about the new system classes here.
Text highlighters have new terminology and tags to better align with the function. Old tags will continue to be supported.
-
options/optsfromhas been changed tostates/states from -
rows/rowsfromhas been changed tophrases/phrases from - the color decorator has been changed from option data , e.g.,
{{COLOR: red}}to an element decorator, e.g.,{color: red}
Honorable Mentions
- Quickly access the read-only survey source with the Current Version shortcut, accessed via Versions > Current Version
- Audience Quotas have improved layout for better readability
- Survey Navigator will default to showing all surveys within the last 120 days rather than last 30 days
- Export Survey Data has a fresh look, including new option descriptions and adjustments to some defaults
-
repeatheaderworks with more survey themes - In reporting, autoother fields will now appear inline with their associated question, rather than at the end of the block. This may have an affect on datamaps 📣
- Open-end Coding will automatically code translated responses and provide results in the same language
- "Initiated" records (Status I), often generated by email link previews, will be automatically excluded from the dataset if they don’t proceed past the first page
- Sort columns in Crosstabs using the up/down arrow icon
- Launch a Read-Only HTML Frequency Report without saving a deliverable
- A
create_closedvariable will now accept an inlinereporting onlytag
Bugs of Note
- Response reports no longer limited to only showing 99 columns of data
- Using
{crossby: panel_quota}in acreate_quotavariable will no longer cause issue with Panels - Often users were sent back to Fielding Metrics when using the software; fixed
- Scheduled Stage Change sees improvements
- Both
create_closed&coded select variableswill now appear as fields that can be recalculated
Release of 9.7 started on Aug 28, 2025
