The Settings configuration panel can be found in all reporting tools. In Settings you can customize your report by selecting respondent statuses, applying filters, and choosing the relevant survey fields to focus on the specific data you need. The features and options available in Settings vary depending on report type.
Overview
IntelliSurvey's reporting tools use a "build-as-you-go" approach, updating the report in real time as selections and customizations are made. This provides a flexible, efficient way to create and adjust reports until they are final.
All report Settings have Fields, Records, and Filters selectors. Charts, Frequency, and Crosstab reports also have a menu to apply weights to a data set.
- Unique to Charts: Add visual customizations, trend analysis, and cross-field graphs.
- Unique to Crosstabs: Include significance testing, table display options (percent, counts, or both), and a Show child tables toggle.
- Unique to Frequency: Offers a percent/count toggle to change the table's default setting, filters by field type (closed, numeric, text), and a Display Draft Version toggle.
- Unique to Response: Allows option ID vs. description display, filters by field type (closed, numeric, text), and a Display Draft Version toggle.
Lastly, report filters are cumulative; all conditions must be met for data to display on screen.
Fields
Use Select all to quickly run a report on all questions in the Survey Fields chapter. For more customization, open the Select Fields menu to choose fields by chapter or individually.
Selected fields can be reordered anytime. Click the opposing arrow icon and then drag and drop fields into a new placement or drag the blue buttons to a new position within the Select Fields box.
Records
Click the Records dropdown menu to choose from a selection of common respondent statuses, or use the default option, Completed respondents.
Weights
Reports and analytics default to using unweighted data. If weights have been created for a survey, they can be applied from the Weights dropdown.
Weights are not available in Response reports.
Filters
The Filters pop-up offers three options: Data Cuts, Date/Time, and IDs. Filters are cumulative. Once a filter is successfully applied, a checkmark will appear .
Click Reset at any time to remove all filters.
Data cuts
Data cuts filter which respondents are included in a report. Previously saved data cuts appear in the Pre-Built dropdown alongside all closed-ended survey fields. Create a new data cut by using the Build option.
To build a new data cut, select the question to reference in the Field dropdown, choose an operator, and type the value or select the option answers in the dropdown. Click Add to view the expression in the Expression Output box.
For compound expressions, use the dropdown next to Add to select an operator (and/or) and repeat the steps.
Filters can be used temporarily by clicking Apply. This will apply the filter to the report, but it will not save it for later use. To save the data cut permanently, enter a description and click Save and apply.
Read the Expression Builder article for more details.
Date/Time
The Date/Time filter narrows records by timestamps. First, select a reference timestamp (for example, the respondent start time) and timeframe. Then, in the Date field, click the down arrow to use the calendar or type the date in a DD/MM/YYYY format. Adding a time is optional.
IDs
The IDs filter includes a text box to enter or paste respondent IDs, one per line. Only these IDs will appear in the report.
Advanced settings
Field Type
The Field Type dropdown filters the selected fields by type. Fields not matching the criteria are hidden, even if they are present in the Select Fields box.
- Closed: All fields with closed-ended data.
- Open numeric: All open-ended data with numeric data types.
- Open text: All open-ended data with non-numeric data types (text and textbox questions).
Display Draft Version
Reports and analytics default to the latest published survey version. If a draft version exists, switch the toggle "on" to access draft fields.
