Welcome to IntelliSurvey
This is your starting point to learn more about the IntelliSurvey User Interface (UI). We'll discuss how to set up your account and log in, how to navigate around the platform, how to set your general preferences, and where to find help.
We've also put together a guide with helpful links organized by the typical survey life-cycle. You can find the quick start guide here.
Note: The majority of IntelliSurvey users are on software r8. This article is focused primarily for those users.
Pardon our dust. IntelliSurvey released a new software version in late 2023 commonly known as IS Pro (IntelliSurvey r9.0). This "look and feel" is different from prior versions of the software, but the functionality is mostly the same. We are in the process of updating our articles and tutorials for this new release. Meanwhile, if you are an r9 user, we hope you still find the content throughout our documentation helpful.
Getting Started - Navigating the HOME Dashboard
The following video provides an overview of the content below.
Logging into the platform
In order to gain access to the IntelliSurvey platform, you need to log in with an email address and a passphrase/password. IntelliSurvey uses the email address that was registered when the account was created as the username. The passphrase is case-sensitive.
- First, read Logging into IntelliSurvey.
- If you cannot remember your password, read how to reset your passphrase.
Do you need an account?
If you do not have a registered account yet, another user with the correct permissions can create one for you. Ask an IntelliSurvey onboarding specialist, any IntelliSurvey colleague on your project team, or a support agent for assistance.
Are you managing other users?
If you are ready to create new users for your own colleagues and team members, then please read about the Users administration applet where you can view, add, edit, and delete user accounts in the IntelliSurvey platform.
Navigating the UI
The IntelliSurvey platform has two dashboards, one at the system level and one at the survey level. The system level one is known as the HOME Dashboard (also called System Dashboard), and the survey level one is the Survey Dashboard. Each has their own set of available functions. You could land on either one of these dashboards, depending on which link you clicked prior to logging in.
We suggest you read about the general structure and terminology for our UI in the User interface article.
HOME (System Dashboard)
Survey Navigator
On the HOME page, you will see the Survey Navigator. From here, you can navigate to current surveys you have access to, or create a new one. You'll also have access to the system-level Navigation menu on the left-hand side. In the upper-right, there are controls that allow you to open a specific survey, access the documentation, navigate to other parts of the application with "SmartSearch," edit personal preferences, or toggle visualization mode.
Once you feel comfortable browsing through the UI, learn to open an existing survey from the Survey Navigator. You can select a survey by clicking anywhere in the Survey Navigator table. The cell will be highlighted blue. To open the survey selected, you can double-click on the highlighted row, or you can expand the Actions menu and select Open.
Dashboard view
You can also view the HOME page as summary tiles by clicking on the Dashboard button. You can add tiles to your HOME Dashboard to customize it, and then open an existing survey from its tile.
Survey Dashboard
The Survey Dashboard is your portal for managing a particular survey. Each survey has its own dashboard with informational tiles, an action menu bar, and a Navigation menu pertaining solely to that survey. The Navigation menu includes buttons to access features such as quotas, editing the survey, creating reports, and so on.
Similar to the HOME Dashboard view, you can add tiles here, too. Read about adding tiles to your Survey Dashboard here.
Managing preferences
You can customize the UI with the General Preferences applet and the Reports Preferences applet. General Preferences can help you customize system level preferences such as alerts, time zones, theme (e.g., dark mode), HOME page layout, and workspaces. It can also let you customize survey level preferences such as default user groups, the Quota Manager layout, sound notifications, and autosave settings. Reports Preferences help you determine whether you want to pre-populate reports with default filters or start reports with nothing pre-loaded.
Finding help
There are multiple ways to seek assistance. For more detailed information on a given feature, you can review the documentation on our software in the Help Center, or start a chat with the support bot. Don't worry; there are humans there, too.
If you are already logged into the platform, you can also review our in-app documentation by clicking on the Help button (? icon) in the upper-right corner of the screen.
Tip! Additional assistance can be found by emailing your questions to help@intellisurvey.com. Please include your survey link and all relevant information in the email. Average response time is within an hour during the hours of 9am to 5pm Pacific Time (GMT-7).
