In order to gain access to the IntelliSurvey platform, a user logs in with an email address and a passphrase (a.k.a. password). IntelliSurvey uses the email address that was registered when the account was created as the username. The passphrase is case-sensitive.
It is important to note that the IntelliSurvey platform is not a single sign-on process. Each server a user has been granted access to requires the user to create a unique passphrase, and the user logs into each server independently.
If a user does not yet have a registered account, another current user with the correct permissions can create one for them. Click on creating a new user for more information.
If you have lost or forgotten your IntelliSurvey passphrase, you can request a new one. Read about resetting your passphrase here in this article.
Logging in
Before gaining access to the platform, the system prompts you for an email address and passphrase. First, enter the email address registered with the user account.
Next, enter the passphrase. If you do not remember your passphrase, click on the link "Forgot Passphrase?" below the Log In button.
If a user attempts to log in with an incorrect passphrase five times, a message is displayed on screen which alerts the user that the account has been locked. The screen will provide the user with the opportunity to click on a "Forgot Passphrase?" link to reset the passphrase. If further assistance is needed, read "Unlocking a user account" here.
After successfully logging in, a notification appears that the login was successful, and the count of failed login attempts, if any.
Logging out
To log out of the IntelliSurvey platform, click on the "person" icon in the upper-right corner of the screen and click on Logout.
Resetting your passphrase
If you have lost or forgotten your IntelliSurvey passphrase, you can request a new one. Go to the main administrative landing page/HOME Dashboard, or click on any link that takes you to a survey hosted on the same server. You will see the standard Log In screen. Click the "Forgot Passphrase?" link in the bottom right corner of the white box.
Next, enter the email address used with the IntelliSurvey account. Lastly, click Send Email to have the IntelliSurvey platform send you an email to reset your passphrase. A confirmation message will appear on screen.
Note, the IntelliSurvey platform will not send your existing passphrase; instead it will send a link and instructions for resetting your current passphrase to something new. The link that is sent is only valid for 2 hours. If you do not click on the link provided in that time frame, you must repeat the process described above.
Note, if you do not have a registered account, you will not receive the passphrase reset email. As a security precaution, the platform will indicate that an email was sent, but none will be delivered to the un-registered email address.
Passphrase rules
A passphrase must follow a set of rules and be considered "Strong" in order to be accepted. The passphrase must be at least 12 characters in length, and it is strongly suggested to be a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols. As long as the passphrase is greater than 12 characters, there is no maximum length restriction.
When creating a new passphrase, IntelliSurvey uses an algorithm to determine if the passphrase is complex and strong enough. Here are tips for creating a strong passphrase:
- Make sure it does not contain basic sequences of numbers.
- Make sure it does not contain simple dictionary words that could be easily guessed.
- Make sure it does not match a previously used passphrase.
- Make sure it is a combination of non-repetitive letters, numbers, and symbols.
As you create your passphrase, you can monitor the strength level by looking at the notifications as they appear on screen while you type. Here are the four messages you will see as your passphrase is entered.
A passphrase is valid for up to one year. You can change your passphrase as often as you like within a year, but each time you reset it, the one year lifespan begins anew. The email address registered with the user account will be sent an email if it has been one year since the current passphrase was created, and you must change your passphrase to continue using your account.
