The System Total Quota is one way to control the number of respondents who are allowed to complete a survey. When it is used, once a specified number of respondents have completed the survey, no new responses are allowed. New respondents attempting to click into the survey are assigned a status of 'O' - Total Cap. Total Cap is different from regular quotas because it assigns a custom status. The custom status permits respondents to re-enter the survey, and be re-statused to 'P', if the total cap is lifted.
Note: Similar to "soft shutdown," any In-Progress ('P') respondents are allowed to continue with their survey when the total cap has been met, but any respondents whose statuses have changed to 'N' (Inactive) are assigned a status O when they attempt to resume their survey.
See Understanding respondent statuses to learn more.
