How a question widget displays on a page to respondents is controlled by the template in use by its parent survey. When rendering a survey, the system references the corresponding template files in the chosen theme for that question type to build the appropriate HTML. To customize the appearance of questions, theme files may be edited in the local survey file directories. It is also possible to alter the appearance and functionality of a single question by using the template
tag. The template
tag allows survey programmers to reference pre-built templates in the appID/theme/parent directory.
To use the template
tag, include it on the widget you wish to customize:
The input is the name of the template file you wish to use. If the template does not exist, the survey will compile, but generate a parse warning. If the template contains a syntax error, the survey built will fail.
