Survey sampling is not an exact science. Because it is not always possible to accurately predict the response rate of a given audience prior to distributing survey invitations, it may happen that more respondents attempt to enter the survey than the host server is capable of handling. As a safeguard, IntelliSurvey allows administrators to enforce a maximum number of respondents in progress within a single survey. To view or edit the maximum capacity of a survey, click on the Stage icon located on the upper right navigation bar of the Survey Dashboard.
At the bottom of the Change Survey Stage box is the Max. Capacity field.
The default value of this field is 2000 respondents. Respondents who attempt to click into the survey when there are more respondents in progress (as determined by having a status of P, In Progress) than the number in the Max. Capacity field will be shown the following message:
Thanks for visiting! The survey is currently full. Please check back in a little while.
To change this, use the maxcapmessage
tag on the appconfig
widget:
appconfig maxcapmessage: Total survey capacity has been met.
Respondents who see this message are assigned a status of M (Max Cap). These status M respondents will also be flagged in the system field throttled
. If they click back into the survey once the In Progress number falls below the maximum threshold, they will be re-statused to P and begin the survey on the first page, but the flag in the throttled
field will persist.
